I've highlighted an interesting point of yours, Farsight...

The theoretical scientist is compelled in an increasing degree to be guided by purely mathematical formal considerations in his search for a theory, for the physical experience of the experimenter cannot lead him up to the regions of highest abstraction. The predominantly inductive methods appropriate to the youth of science are giving place to tentative deduction...

Here too the observed fact is undoubtedly the supreme arbiter; but it cannot pronounce sentence until the wide chasm separating the axioms from their verifiable consequences has been bridged by much intense hard thinking."

It is clear that the two colored sections contradict one another since observed fact cannot be the supreme arbiter because the "regions of highest abstraction" are clearly NOT governed by objective facts as, according to Big Al Einstein, the "physical experience of the experimenter" cannot provide such objective facts.

Hence from Einstein's own words I conclude that more "intense hard thinking" will lead to "entirely correct textbooks" precluding any scientific progress because every "pioneering" scientific theory, at least in physics, will be reduced to tentative deduction i.e. no clear answers anywhere.

So have I understood you (& Einstein) correctly, Farsight?

    No.

What you should understand is that axiom and abstraction obscure the facts and get in the way of the truth. For example look at this:

"Qualitatively speaking, the two asymptotically flat universes begin disconnected, with each one containing a singularity of infinite curvature (r = 0). As the two universes evolve in time, their singularities join each other and form a nonsingular bridge".

Now look at the history section of the Schwarzschild metric on Wikipedia. Note this:

"many of the major players in the field including Einstein believing that singularity at the Schwarzschild radius was physical".

    Something doesn't add up.

Good answer, Farsight , as you state the problem so much more clearly than Einstein!

Indeed it doesn't add up! But I'm just happy that this abstract question "getting in the way of the truth" isn't an issue for me! That's why I look deeper into the underlying presumptions that lead to such tales as Schwarzchild metrics etc. in the first place.

MODERATOR NOTE : TFOLZO, I must remind you once again that this is a mainstream science forum; "anti-relativity" sentiments are not an acceptable topic for the main sections here. I am splitting off your posts into a separate thread in Personal Theories - if you have specific questions about the theory of relativity, you are most welcome to ask them in the main sections, but everything else needs to be confined to Personal Theories. Please note that the mods and admins on here will strictly enforce this.
