    Hello Everyone!

My Question is for secondary student. I need to know why the students are affraid to understand the laws of thermodynamics. According to me this is very simple to understand and easy to learn.

The problem is that thermodynamics is very abstract. The basic quantity in the theory is heat, and there is no way you can point at something you can see and say "That is heat." People start out thinking very concretely and only gradually add abstract thinking to their repertoire. If schools don't present abstractions gradually, students may have a lot of concrete knowledge and little ability to handle abstraction. This situation was (as far as I know) first outlined by the psychologist Piaget, and there has been a fair amount of application of his theories to the learning of physics. This literature can be quite helpful in designing introductory physics classes.
