We haven't conducted a detailed survey.

We haven't subjected recent posts to detailed semantic analysis.

We haven't counted up the average number of posts containing a smidgeon of derision.

What we have done is noted that the bickering and arguing have been noticeably absent over the last few days.

It has made visiting the site a pleasure.

That is down to all of you for behaving in a civil, orderly manner.

To those of you who always posted that way - thanks for continuing to do so.

To those who suffered the occasional lapse - thanks for reining yourselves in.

So, thanks from all of us.

Yeah but I haven't been posting since I haven't found any posts that interest me, since xOx got banned. He was tutoring me on some stuff about how far a vehicle may move during the duration of a radar beam. On the surface, this is so minute as to be negligable, but if we were to take it at a distance of light years or if the vehicle were able to approach the speed of light, it would change this. It was causing me to apply myself and research so was interesting and mentally stimulating. I disagreed with something he said as I figured we had already included the round trip of the radar beam, but he wanted me to figure it in again.

So, yeah. He resorted to tell me I am unteachable and say some other stupid personal stuff. So what? The discussion still helped me to learn. His personal opinions of me don't mean squat to me, but I do not think it appropriate to keep him from expressing them. My personal opinion of him is not important either, but I still like debating some certain things with him. I was inspired to prove his theory of the minute and hour clock hands meeting 23 times every 24 hours incorrect as well, as I had thought on it and theorized both by mathematical and empirical evidence that they meet 22 times per 24 hours, which I based on an 11/12 ratio. So, yes his personal assessments I do not care about, but he did inspire me to use my mind which is probably the most important part of a good teacher should do (ahem- clears throat) even if the student may sometimes be smarter than the teacher. The teacher who is the best teacher inspires the students to think for themselves which oXo did for me, even if it was not his intent to.

Why don't you ban me again? You would be doing me a favor.

We only ban people who disrupt the forum. The recent bans and suspensions were done in an attempt to make the forum a more civilised place, and we hope to keep it that way.

So - you would rather have somebody ban you from a place you are free to be you, rather than just being free to post and read here as you freely wish to? I definitely do not think that makes any sense. If you really wanted to be banned, you would just ban yourself.

No one is forcing you to be here and no one can.

What good does thinking like that do?
And I do not believe you.

Sometimes people want their accounts to be frozen so that they're tempted to respond to what they perceive as nonsense and thus aggravate them more than they already are.

You don't want PM's to be out in the open?

You wanted to blackmail me with your PM.

And nope. I went to a different forum and asked questions. The same questions I asked here earlier.

Beer w/ Straw, that is not blackmail. That is someone saying he wont interfere with your discussions with another member, but will help you if you ask him directly.

    *sigh*

What EXACTLY is the problem you are having, Beer w/ Straw?

    Why all the drama?

Why have you posted this in a thread where we are thanking members for acting in a more civil manner recently?

Look. If you don't want to post here any more, then stop coming here. If you want to be physically banned from coming here for some reason, we will be happy to accommodate your wishes. If you reply in this thread again, saying you want to be banned permanently, I will do so. But if you wish to continue posting here in a civil manner, you are free to do so.

I cannot say fairer than that, can I?

How about you think what that PM meant and the question I asked about significant figures/decimals.

    :EDIT:

Being ignorant and slow, I ask stupid questions.

This is plenty fair. I suggest by asking for a permanent ban here, Beer with Straw would be limiting his future options. It would be still easy to read most forums without logging in, but you could neither post (again on most forums) or pm (or have someone pm you) if you may have a reason to answer or suggest a question or give a personal invite.

To me it makes no sense to limit your options on purpose. Life itself and other people will limit you more than you want already.

You can maybe share and learn here if a member, things that you can not do here if not a member.

Never limit your options! -By that I pretty much mean don't get married.

That depends on whether they were in intolerable pain, with no hope of relief, or not.

Mayflow, would you say I made an offer that was "plenty fair" when I said I would permanently ban someone if they specifically replied and asked me to do so, but that they were welcome to remain here as long they remained civil, and then admonish me for sticking to my offer, which you agreed was "plenty fair"?

That is the fourth time Beer w/Straw has asked to be banned. Enough is enough.

There is no pleasing some people. Oh, and thank you both for turning what was supposed to be a positive thread into a negative thread. Nice going.

I don't think Beer w/ straw is in intolerable physical pain. Maybe he created his own internal emotional pain. People, it seems to me, do that all the time. It is a mystery to me as to why, but I do know people can also exemplify compassion.

I should think that Beer w/ straw has some sort of personal issues with someones in authority positions calling him ignorant and slow. Banning him even if per request cannot be of help I do not think, but just reinforce his ideas that people think that of him. Not good.

Playing the compassion card. Can you trump it? I bet you a dollar to a donut (and I don't even like donuts) that you would be happier, and feel freer unbanning than banning. Makes sense, yes? Freeing, not jailing others as one would wish for one's self ( I should hope) < I like making parentheses btw.

Think of it this way. "Thank you for asking me to impede your freedom of speech, but it ain't my style"

Where the hell were you when I needed you during the last 10 years?

I know pain. I'm on intimate terms with it. It can do horrible things to a persons life and mind.

Are we talking about physical pain bringing on the mental/emotional pain, or the other way around. They sure can influence each the other!
