# Thread: Help in speed please

1. hello i need help in solving this
Q)If the speed of a vehicle increases by 2 m/s,its kinetic energy is doubled, then original speed of the vehicle is
a)(sqrt of 2 )+1 m/s
b)2(sqrt of 2 -1)m/s
c)2(sqrt of 2 + 1 )m/s
d)sqrt of 2 (sqrt of 2 + 1)m/s
sqrt is square root of
please help me out
Thnx in advance 2. none of those.
You should put a slash / in the correct place in (b) 3. Originally Posted by pikpobedy none of those.

accordind to me question is right i tried and got ans as c 4. Check your answer.
Determine the KE at your answer at c) V = 2(sqrt of 2 + 1 )m/s and the KE at 2+V = 2 + 2(sqrt of 2 + 1 ) m/s.

Then try the KE at V = 2/((sqrt 2) -1)) and at the KE at 2+V= 2 + 2/((sqrt 2) -1))

What do you think? smile. cute factoring in "c" 2(sqrt 2 +1) = 2/(sqrt 2 -1) which I did not immediately see. I assumed incorrect typo. 5. Originally Posted by pikpobedy Check your answer.
