Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. In regards to the eclipse that is going to happen in N.America around August 21, 2017, I was wondering if is it safe to look at the eclipse through the lens of a cell phone camera? Does high frequency/ harmful radiation is passed through the lenses ?

You will probably destroy the camera (for the same reasons it would destroy your eye). Get proper glasses or use pinhole camera.
You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean and it'll still kill you, but if you're a good navigator at least you'll know where you were when you died.
